As a senior environmental attorney with the Charlotte law firm of
Moore & Van Allen
, Tom Mullikin leads the firm’s Government, Policy, and Regulatory Affairs Team. His practice focuses on corporate compliance, regulatory relations and legislative representation. Mr. Mullikin’s career spans more than twenty years and includes key legislative staff roles, lobbying activities, extensive environmental legal representation and management of environmental, energy and healthcare issue campaigns for industry. He previously served as Chief Counsel and Vice President for Public Affairs to the largest environmental services company in the world.

He has served on state and congressional staffs as well as an advisor and campaign manager to senior members of Congress and U.S. Presidential candidates from both the Republican and Democratic parties.

Mr. Mullikin led a team of researchers and environmental experts on an expedition to Antarctica in late 2005 to study the effects of climate change on the polar regions. He produced a subsequent video documentary, entitled: Climate Change: Global Problems, Global Solutions, which was broadcast on New Hampshire Public Television, and has received widespread acclaim in both business and environmental circles. In October 2006, he led a second team to Namibia, Africa, to follow up on the findings of the Antarctica expedition and further explore the impact of global climate change on the fragile Sub-Saharan environment.

Mr. Mullikin is the author of Truck Stop Politics: Understanding the Emerging Force of Working Class America and Global Solutions: Demanding Total Accountability for Climate Change. He has been widely published in both legal and mainstream periodicals, including Campaigns and Elections Magazine, South Carolina Jurisprudence, Vital Speeches of the Day, UCLA Journal of Environmental Law and Policy and Georgetown International Environmental Law Review, and has been quoted as an expert in both the law and the environment by The Los Angeles Times, Newsday, The St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times, The Charlotte Observer, The Rocky Mountain News, The Salt Lake Tribune, and Huntinamibia.

He has also received the Order of the Palmetto, the highest civilian honor bestowed by the State of South Carolina.
